Emmanuel Adebayor?
Okay. One for those that don't rate that jinxed fella. He's saying Adebayor signs tomorrow and will play on saturday if signed in time.

Gentleman, start your engines.

110 grand this week. 110 grand next week, etc.

It could only be better if Levy had to write the cheque himself every week.

I definitely believe this Adebayour issue was a massive faff to get back at the grubby claws of Levy and the Spuds generally. Great stuff.

You do have to wonder why god didn't send Adebayor a message. I mean he must have been watching Sky Sports on deadline day. Surely.

Meanwhile, in the real universe, I like to think that Gold and Sullivan decided to play a little game with Levy and leave him stuck with Adebayor again, including all his wages.

Whether it is true or not it was reported that he turned down a move to Villa after consulting his Pastor.
Presumably the Pastor was ok with a move to West Ham.
I am going to guess that the more likely reason was that said Pastor was wary of a parishioner who earns £100k a week moving out of his orbit and the collection plate being diminished.
Hallelujah !

Re: Emmanuel Adebayor?
From today's Telegraph...........Emmanuel Adebayor refuses to leave Tottenham Hotspur because he needs a sign from God

We dodged a bullet, as did Aston Villa.

Re: Emmanuel Adebayor?
Well of course a club can sign a player whenever they want but you can't register them and without a registration they can't play.

Nothing to do with the laws of employment because a player is agreeing to make themselves "unemployed" for their contract being paid up in full or in part.

Re: Emmanuel Adebayor?
Is that right, Roe? I was hoping that would be the case but couldn't find anything saying that.

Surely that would fall foul of laws relating to restraint of trade if a player was free transferred off right now and had to wait till January before being allowed to work again?

Again, I hope it's true in this case but it would also be illegal.

Re: Emmanuel Adebayor?
Actually Eddie B is right, clubs can only sign out of contract players if they were out of contract at the time of the transfer window closing.
